For the person carrying emotional pain they don’t talk about....
Building This in the Middle of Real Life
A brief reflection on building purpose and healing in the middle of real life, showing that growth doesn’t require perfect conditions.

I used to think I needed more space, more energy, or more “togetherness” before I could build anything meaningful. Grief taught me otherwise.
I am learning that I am allowed to build this in the middle of real life.
In the middle of fatigue.
In the middle of appointments.
In the middle of emotions that change by the hour.
In the middle of showing up and needing rest.
Healing doesn’t require ideal conditions. It requires honesty and grace. Some days, progress looks like writing. Other days, it looks like listening to my body. Both count.
The work I’m doing; through poetry, reflection, and faith; is not separate from my healing. It is part of it. I don’t need to wait until everything feels lighter to begin sharing what I’m learning. I can build while breathing. I can teach while still healing.
That’s why I’ll be sharing the steps from my poetry book slowly; one at a time, once a week. Not to rush growth, but to honor it.
If you’re building something while carrying grief, know this:
You’re not behind.
You’re becoming; right where you are.

This is for the person who is grieving quietly, carrying trauma, or healing from losses that were never fully spoken. I remember the moment when my own world collapsed; losing loved ones back-to-back, losing the home I shared memories in with my father, losing stability, and losing pieces of myself I didn’t know how to recover. What I didn’t know then was that writing, music, faith, and therapy would become the pathway God used to rebuild me from the inside out. That’s why I created The Quiet Cry Project; a safe place for weary hearts to breathe, feel, and be restored. Your next gentle step is simply to enter this space and receive the comfort God has for you. - Sheila
