When Peace Leads

“Let the peace of God rule in your hearts.” — Colossians 3:15

Peace in the midst of grief, tension, or suffering doesn’t always look like resolution.

Sometimes, it looks like less talking… and more resting.

In my own experience, there are moments when words feel unnecessary. The questions are still there. The emotions haven’t disappeared. But something within me begins to settle; not because everything is fixed, but because I’ve stopped trying to force understanding.

Peace doesn’t always come as clarity.

Sometimes it comes as permission.

Permission to pause.

To be quiet.

To not have an answer right now.

When grief is heavy or tension feels unresolved, the instinct is often to explain, process, or push through. But God’s peace doesn’t rush us. It gently takes the lead.

“Let the peace of God rule…” means allowing something greater than our thoughts to guide us.

And sometimes, being guided by peace looks like stepping back, breathing deeply, and resting in God’s presence.

Not everything has to be figured out today.

Peace can hold what we don’t understand.

And for now, that is enough.
